Let the Fresh Air in!

Let the Fresh Air in!

Air quality affects drivers wherever you are. Many decades ago, people began to become aware of how air pollution negatively affects health. But what about the air inside your vehicle? Cabin air filters are now coming standard on most new vehicles since the 2000 model year. These filters clean the air in the passenger compartment. They can filter particles down to three microns, so that’s good enough to clean out dust, pollen and most pollutants. If you suffer from allergies, this is very good news. You can look in your owner’s manual to see if you have a cabin air filter. If you do, there’ll be a recommendation for replacing it when it gets dirty. If you live where there’s a lot of dust, pollen or pollution, you may need to change it more often. You can also ask your InMOTION Auto Care service advisor. How hard it is to change a cabin air filter depends on your vehicle. Some are quite accessible; others take some doing ... read more

Power Steering System Maintenance

Power Steering System Maintenance

Steering is one of the things we take for granted in our vehicles. Let’s break it down into two areas: first, the power assist and second, the actual parts that steer the vehicle. Most people under 40 have never driven a car or truck without power steering. Most vehicles today have a hydraulic power steering pump that provides boost to help you steer. The pump is usually driven by the serpentine belt, but some newer vehicles have an electric pump. Some vehicles even have an electric motor that directly powers the steering. The important thing to keep in mind is that these pumps and motors will eventually wear out and the hoses will start to leak. You can postpone that day by having a power steering fluid service from time to time. Out mechanics will add BG Quick Clean to safely and effectively remove accumulated residues from the entire power steering/rack and pinion system, then remove the old fluid and replace it with fresh, clean fluid. This process r ... read more

Go Straight With A Wheel Alignment At InMOTION Auto Care

Ever been in your local grocery store and had one of those shopping carts? You know, the one with a messed up wheel that wobbles like crazy. One or more of your wheels can get out of alignment; you feel a vibration in your steering wheel, which may also be off-center. Sometimes wheels get knocked out of alignment by something big like hitting a curb on a bumpy road or slamming into a pothole. But everyday driving takes a toll and vehicles lose alignment over time. That's why recommend an alignment at regular intervals. At InMOTION Auto Care, we offer a full menu of quality auto repair and maintenance services, including ... read more

Suspension and Lincoln Roads

When some folks hear the word suspension, they may think back to those rowdy days of high school. Well, your vehicle's suspension is actually a good thing because it keeps your vehicle up off the road and helps provide a comfy ride around Lincoln. Its job is to keep your wheels firmly planted on the road going over bumps and through curves. Your suspension system has many parts. If you look under your vehicle, it's basically everything that connects your wheels to the vehicle's frame. These are heavy duty parts that do a lot of work. They need to be inspected for damage and excessive wear at every oil change service. An annual four wheel alignment is also recommended component and tire wear as well as for optimal steering and handling performance. 8 Signs Your Car Has Pothole Damage

8 Signs Your Car Has Pothole Damage

A pothole can be your car’s worst enemy. These holes or pits on a road’s surface can seriously damage a vehicle’s ride control system. If you do drive over a pothole, have your car’s shocks or struts checked to make sure they aren’t damaged. Shocks and struts control how vehicles ride and handle. The shock absorbers, or struts act as a cushion to dampen the bouncing action of a car’s springs. The springs absorb the road bumps; without them, the vehicle would continually bounce and bound down the road, making driving extremely difficult. Shocks and struts also control spring and suspension movement to keep the tires in contact with the road. This affects steering, stability and braking. A broken shock or strut could alter the steering and handling of a vehicle and create driving dangers. It’s important to be aware of the warning signs that your vehicle’s shocks or struts may need to be replaced. The vehicle rolls or sways o ... read more
